Dealer

While in some small games (usually your private garage games with friends) players will take turns in shufflilng and dealing the cards, there will be a Dealer at each table in most official poker games. The Dealer Button will be used to designate the player whose turn it currently is to deal. When there is an official Dealer the cards will be dealt as if the player with the Dealer Button was dealing.

Dealer Button

Denotes the position of the Dealer at Texas Hold'Em and Omaha. In Casinos and bigger Tournaments there will always be a designated Dealer but a Button will be used to mark the nominal Dealer.

A Pair consisting of cards of the value 2 (22).

Diamonds

One of the four colours Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts and Spades.

Disconnect Protection

In online poker there is always the possibility of a disconnection. In this case the Disconnection Protection kicks in and the current amount that you have put into play will be handled as if it was an All-In. This means that you will not automatically Fold nor will your current Chip Stack be endangered.

Door Card

The first card of the Flop.

Double Up

Doubling your Stack in one hand. Usually done by going All-In, getting called by another player and winning the hand.

Down Cards

Down Cards are face-down cards that are only known to the player. At Texas Hold'Em each player has 2 Down Cards, at Omaha there are 4. They are also known as Hole Cards or Pocket Cards.

Draw

Holding a hand that needs one more card to be complete (Flush, Straight,...) after the Flop or Turn respectively. If you hold 4 cards of the same colour after the Flop or Turn you have a Flush Draw.

Drop

Another expression for Fold although not as commonly used.
