Face Cards

Cards with faces, i.e. King, Queen and Jack. Also called Picture Cards or Royal Cards.

Fifth Street

Describes the fifth Community Card. Another, more often used term, is River.

Fish

A Fish is a poker term used for weak and inexperienced players that are considered easy prey for poker players with some understanding of the game. The opposite would be a Shark.

Five Card Draw

This classic poker variant seen in just about every single Wild West movie. Every player receives 5 cards only known to him, there are no Community Cards. You may change cards once. Fortunately unlike in these movies 5 Card Draw games result in considerably less shootings nowadays.

Five Card Stud

A poker variant in which each of the players receives 5 cards, the first of which is dealt face down. The remaining 4 cards are visible for all players.

Fixed Limit

Unlike in No Limit poker games, bets and Raises are exactly defined in Fixed Limit games. Pre-Flop and after the Flop you may only Raise in steps equal to the Small Blind. After the Turn and River cards are dealt you are only allowed to make Raises equal to the amount of the Big Blind. These bets are called Small Bet and Big Bet respectively.

Flop

The first three Community Cards being dealt in Texas Hold'Em or Omaha.

Flush

5 cards of the same colour. Special forms are the Straight Flush and the Royal Flush.

Flush Draw

A special form of the Draw. A Flush Draw denotes a hand with 4 cards of the same colour that has the chance of being completed for a Flush on the Turn or the River.

Fold

If you choose not to make a Call (or Raise) you will have to Fold your cards. Also called Drop.

Four of a Kind

Four cards of the same value (from 2222 up to the classic AAAA that seems to win every decisive game in the Wild West). Another term for it is Quads.

Fourth Street

Describes the fourth Community Card. Another, more often used term, is Turn.

Freeroll

Tournaments that don't require any Buy-In and yet have some prizes to offer, be it cash, token for other tournaments or the like. Participation may either be completely open to anyone or can be restricted by various requirements. Common requirements are: Collecting a certain amount of points the previous month, having made a first deposit, having signed up as a new player, ... The play style of a lot of very inexperienced players - especially in early blind levels - tends to be erratic and sometimes resembles pure gambling more than an actual poker game. This is one of the reasons why serious poker players tend to avoid Freerolls.

Freezeout

The Freezeout (or Freezeout Tournament) is a special form of poker tournament that doesn't allow Rebuys. Once you have lost all your chips, you are out of the tournament for good.

Full House

Formed with Three of a Kind and a Pair. For example KKK and 55.

Four of a Kind

The expression Four of a Kind is used to describe 4 cards of the same value (ranging from 2222 to AAAA). Another expression would be Quads.
