GUKPT Portsmouth The GUKPT is one of the biggest things in poker at the moment and Portsmouth poker players are getting all of the benefit at the moment. This is because Leg 4 of the 2013 tournament is currently in poker and the excitement and tempo is building as the week progresses. The action started on Sunday and as there was a Bank Holiday Monday in the UK this week, there was an additional chance for players to get involved properly. The majority of the country may be back at work now but this doesn’t mean that the poker excitement or drama is fading out just yet.

There is a Re-Buy Turbo Satellite game starting at 4pm on Tuesday and this has a £30 buy-in. Players getting involved with the satellite events now will be hoping that they manage to secure their progress to the big stages but if not, there is the chance to buy in directly. Things Have Been A Little Bit Hectic For Liv Boeree Of Late

One of the things that poker players know all about is that life can get a little troubling at times. There is a need to focus on poker and tournaments but of course, there are plenty of other things that can get in the way. It can be hard enough to juggle proper life and poker for most people and it is not any easier for professional poker players either. Liv Boeree is a top poker player, well known in the UK for her PokerStars work and for TV presenting.

PokerStars is getting behind a great cause

She is currently extending herself at the moment to prepare properly for the Race For Life event she is involved with at this weekend. This is a great cause and Liv is hoping to raise funds and also raise awareness for a very good cause. With so many people in the UK being affected by cancer in one way or another, there is no doubt that many people will be very proud of Liv and her Twitter feed has indicated how hard she has been preparing for the event. With her race scheduled for this weekend (Saturday the 1st of June), she will no doubt be in the final stages of her preparation but of course, she needs to keep her hand in for poker too.

PokerStars Logo As part of the overall PokerStars commitment to the cause, she will be playing in an online poker event on the same day as her race so there will no real opportunity to unwind and relax in comfort after the big race. Then again, this is pretty much the life for most online poker players. Sometimes poker is all about fitting games in as and when you have free time and again, plenty of poker players across the country will know exactly what Liv is going through.

She has kept up her poker playing by getting involved with the PokerStars SCOOP tournament but she has not really had much luck at this festival of poker. There have been plenty of great success stories for UK poker players at the event but Liv was not one of the lucky ones.

Her Twitter followers were the first to know that Liv had bubbled or near bubbled 6 satellites for the 10,000 Main Event and in the end she decided that enough was enough. The Netflix release of the fourth series of Arrested Development was calling her and she decided that she was going to spend her time watching all of the new episodes as opposed to becoming more frustrated by online poker. It is something that we have all felt at times and no doubt poker players across the UK felt a string affinity for Liv Boeree in taking this decision. More Wembley Excitement Is Still To Come

ISPT Wembley Stadium With Crystal Palace triumphing at Wembley in the Championship playoff final, the serious football events at the famous stadium are finished for the summer. There is a friendly between England and Ireland this midweek but there will not be too much importance placed on that which means that the upcoming International Stadiums Poker Tour event which takes place at the weekend is going to be the most important Wembley event for the rest of the summer. It is still not too late to get involved with the event and even if you don’t want to pay too much money to be able to play, you’ll be able to get to Wembley.

Dusk Till Dawn are fully behind this event and their website has a number of satellite events running this week. Being able to book your place from the comfort of your own home is definitely something that will appeal to a lot of poker players and there is going to be a lot of interest in these events. Thankfully there are a number of opportunities to play in a satellite event this week. This site is hosting satellite events at 8.30pm every night this week so you can try for Day 1D on Monday the 27th of May, Tuesday the 28th of May is 1E, Wednesday the 29th of May is Day 1F and Thursday the 30th of May is Day 1G. This is great news because the more UK and Irish poker success, the better. Anything which encourages people to play or gives people an incentive to get involved with poker has to be seen as a good thing. It can be all too easy for people to think that they’ll never win an online poker event but someone has to win them and if you don’t get involved, you will never get the chance to see if you can win!

Event number 36 at SCOOP was the No Limit Hold ‘Em 1R1A event and there were UK players grabbing cash here. The low buy-in events at SCOOP have been very popular but there has still been UK player rising to the upper reaches of the tournaments. One player who has experienced a great run of form of late is “BubsenMan” as he has grabbed 14 cash wins of late. The latest of which was a 12th placed finish in this event and this saw him grab $2,360.91. However, one UK player managed to do better with “GodsTeacher” finishing in a very credible seventh place. This placing saw him pick up $9,229.02.

The medium level event also saw some British player and poker players who call the UK their home rank very highly. Rhys Jones finished in 19th and the player known as “reecelfc69” came 25th. The High Event also saw UK success as “vindog03” finished 14th grabbing some much needed cash while Rory Matthews managed to grab his 14th cash place in the tournament. He finished seventh overall, which was enough to see him earn $40,640.

There was a big prize in event number 40 which was the No Limit Heads-Up High Roller event when Ben Warrington, who has the online name of “KidCardiff6” managed to win in the Medium event. This success ensured that he was bagging over $90,000 which was definitely a great prize!

There was a cash prize at the SCOOP Main Event for Victoria Coren too. She was keeping her twitter followers up to date with her progress and she was very relieved to make it through to the cash stages. She played in 3 SCOOP events and this Main Event was her first cash finish, so it was definitely worth tweeting about! She was knocked out quickly after the bubble but picking up over $1,600 is enough to justify taking part in this event.

There has been a great deal of success at the SCOOP event and even if you don’t get involved with the poker tournaments now, you have to be thinking about getting involved at some point!

The involvement of Dusk Till Dawn really helped the event to get some prominence in the poker community and this involved inspired many people to start taking the event more seriously.

The serious nature of the ISPT event can be seen in the fact that there has been another major name announced as a sponsor for the big event. Big name sponsors are crucial for events like this and when it comes to major European events, there is one company that knows all about marketing and promotion. The story of Red Bull is a highly interesting one from a business viewpoint and if you ever find yourself with some time to kill, it is well worth checking out.

UK Players Find More Success At SCOOP

PokerStars SCOOP 2013 As far as successful poker tournaments for UK poker players go, the SCOOP event organised by PokerStars has to be one of the biggest and best. The fact that players are able to take part in these events from the comfort of their own home is always going to be a good thing and it has certainly encouraged a great number of UK players to get involved. While the high number of UK success stories indicates that this is a great tournament for the Brits, it would be interesting to know how many UK poker players are taking part.

For every success there are going to be plenty of failures and disappointments but there is no real sense in focusing on that is there? The real point of any event is to look towards the winners and this is something that will see poker players remember this tournament very fondly.

If you love poker events with a long name, the 27th event at SCOOP would be one that would appeal to you. The Fixed Limit Triple Draw Deuce to Seven game probably had some players eliminated from the action before they could finish the title! However, it appears to be a poker discipline that is growing in popularity and stature and its presence can only increase after the latest event.

Low buy-in price generates a lot of interest

As you would expect from an event that had a buy-in of $27, there was a lot of interest in the low level event. There were a total of 1,668 players taking part in this game and there were a few UK players in the upper reaches. When you think about how many players were involved, reaching 28th (“GrowsOnTrees”), 19th (Jamie “buffslayer1” Wilby) and 4th (“crack2”) represent big achievements.

However, there were two players from the UK in the final table, Rory Matthews and the aforementioned Stephen Chidwick. Sadly Rory was the first to leave the table but “stevie444” managed to fight his way to the front and grabbed the $52,320 which goes to the winner! Yes, Stephen Chidwick grabbed his first SCOOP title and going by his Facebook update, he seemed delighted by this outcome!

After 6 years of being titleless I finally got the monkey off my back…2k triple draw champion for 50k and a watch!

While UK players showed the had the skill to make good poker hands, the success at the Razz event at SCOOP indicated that they have some talent in making rubbish poker hands too! The player called “TomaszRa” online came third and managed to earn himself $5,112.29! If you can recall the amount of rubbish hands you have played over the years and earned nothing, this sort of prize will definitely annoy you a little bit!

Hopefully the level of success that UK poker players have received at the SCOOP event will give other players confidence and motivation to get involved. There is no chance of winning if you don’t get involved and we can guarantee that you will fail to win every single poker hand that you fail to play.

Dublin Is Once Again The Poker Place To Be This Weekend

With this being a Bank Holiday weekend in the United Kingdom, there may be plenty of people looking to get away and have some fun. There are plenty of different options available to people but there is no doubt that Dublin is able to offer a lot of benefits to folk. It is not too far away and there is always a big party atmosphere going on in the city. There is plenty of history and stunning views to take in too so no matter what element of Dublin you want to focus on, it will be there for you.

There is also a lot to be said for heading to Dublin this weekend if you love poker. There are regular poker tournaments and events taking place in Dublin, you would think that the organisers of these events are trying to suggest that the good folk of Dublin and the people who visit it love to party! There is a real chance to have a poker party this weekend and who knows, you could find yourself being able to pick up a cash prize that will more than pay for the weekend.

The Citywest International Events Centre is the place to be this weekend as this is the host for the IrishEyesBet.com Legends Poker Cup. The title may be a bit of a mouth-full but the weekend of poker action is sure to be a smash hit. The main focus is going to be a €150 buy-in No Limit Hold ‘Em event and there will likely be plenty of players getting involved with the event. The nature of this event is a re-entry and accumulator style, which means that there will be a lot of jostling and action before the Day 2 event starts properly on Saturday.

Day 1A of the Main Event started at 7pm on Thursday the 23rd of May and there was an early start to the action on Friday the 24th of May. While Saturday sees the Day 2 event start at 7pm, there is one final chance to play your way to success in the morning because Day 1D begins at 10am.

The Grand Final of the weekend starts on Sunday the 26th of May at 1pm; so again, it may be an earlier start for some poker players than what they would hope for. Jake Cody Falls Short Of The Money At WPT World Championship

Chino Reem There will be no big money for Rochdale poker player Jake Cody after he bust out from the fourth day at the WPT World Championship. Jake got off to a great start on the first couple of days of the $25,500 buy-in Main Event but a tricky third day saw him slide down the poker chip rankings and put himself in jeopardy.

Jake doesn’t have a great record of cashing in at WPT Events with his only previous monetary success at this style of event coming way back in August 2010. This was a triumph at the WPT London event so perhaps Jake isn’t too fond of WPT events. Then again, give that he did actually manage to win that London event means he can’t have too much hate or distrust for what WPT offers to poker players! Cody slipped out due to the poker play of Chino Reem who ended Day 4 as the chips leader for the Main Event.

At least Jake was able to look at the outcome in a philosophical manner, taking to Twitter to talk to his followers. Jake said;

The fact that there are so many different poker tournaments to choose from means that poker players will always have an opportunity to bounce back as quickly as possible. Any poker player that suffers a disappointment knows that they need to get back in the game as quickly as possible and this is the attitude shown by the top poker players.

If you are a casual poker player or you are just starting out, this is the attitude that you need to show with respect to poker. You should always bear in mind your financial commitments and it doesn’t make sense to go charging into every game and tournament available in an attempt to keep playing but you can’t let defeats get to you too much. Being able to bounce back quickly and become a stronger player after you lose is what helps poker players to grow and it is definitely something that all of the top poker players can rely on.
